Retro 1952 Dress

Here is one of my latest creations. This is a Butterick Retro 1952 dress pattern. I really loved the way it turned out and the keyhole neckline I think really makes the dress unique. I found a really nice floral checked green gingham at Hancocks that matched the shoes which was my goal, of course!

Please ignore the bit of hem in the front that I caught with my heel and unfortunately did not see when the pic was taken.

Here is a closeup of the keyhole bodice...

This was really a fun dress to construct and was actually pretty fast too. Not a lot of pieces to deal with. I did have to shorten the bodice 1/2" because I am short-waisted, otherwise, I used the size 12 cutting lines and I think the fit turned out quite well.

White Pique Wide-Legged Pants

Piece #2 - Here are the pants that are part of my 2008 Spring Wardrobe Contest shown with the matching jacket. The really wide legged pants seem to be quite popular this spring so I really wanted to add a pair to my wardrobe. I had them pretty much finished and then decided since they were white that I really needed to line them. I added the lining and then put on the finishing touches. These will mix and match with the other pieces in the wardrobe.

White Pique Jacket

This jacket is the first piece I completed for the 2008 Spring Wardrobe Contest at Patternreview.com and I am really happy about the way it turned out. The fit is great and I did not really do much tweaking to it. I like the crisp white cotton pique that I used from Calendonia Fine Fabrics here in Boise, ID.

2008 Wardrobe Contest Storyboard

Here is my storyboard for the contest which ends April 30, 2008. I've completed both jackets, both pairs of pants, the floral guaze tunic, and the red pencil skirt. Most of these have been reviewed on Patternreview.com.

This is my first SWAP (Sewing With A Purpose) that I've ever tried. It is challenging and also fun. Even if I don't win the contest I come out with a new coordinated wardrobe so it's a win, win situation no matter what!
